After securing an exciting last-minute wildcard ride at Round 1 of the 2023 FIM World Supercross Championship in Birmingham, SR75 Suzuki reunited with Charles Lefrançois to go head-to-head with the best SX riders in the world.
After flying in and jumping straight on the SR75 Suzuki RM-Z450 race machine with zero testing and practice, Charles delivered a superb performance in his heat race to secure the 15th gate pick. Continuing his strong performance throughout the gruelling evening of world class racing, Charles came away with 22-18-16 scores in the three main events.
Team owner, Geoff Walker commented:
“WOW… One of the raddest weekends ever! What a rider, what a race, what a crew, what an incredible event to be a part of. Buzzing! Cannot sum it up. What we managed to put together in just a few days has made us all proud.
Personally I cannot thank Charles Lefrançois enough for taking on the challenge of arriving back into SR75 Suzuki with zero test time after 2 years and having the balls to SEND IT, do not underestimate just how gnarly it is to trust everyone to get the bike spot on. Our crew at Suzuki GB gave me the personal drive and push to go for this and we thank Ian, Jak and the rest of the badass crew at Suzuki GB for this. Dean at Triwater, you know how rad you are, we appreciate you massively. Paul, yup, you have been there from day 1, supporting us every step of the way. Tony and Luke you dudes kept the pit running perfectly as always. The bike was incredible as always, nothing quite like an RM-Z450 singing round an epic Supercross track!
A big thanks as always to our technical partners who give us the best products to build bikes worthy of this level of racing.
As always a massive thanks to Adam Bailey and all at WSX for the invitation, hospitality and an amazing atmosphere in the stadium generated by their hard work to get Villa Park buzzing with brilliant UK fans!
Charles rode brilliantly with the chips stacked against him to come away with 22-18-16 scores in the main events after securing 15th gate pick after his heat race.
We were looking for top 15 every final but this was a big ask with the best guys on earth. We of course want to do it all again this weekend to make even more progress but to make these gains in the shortest time was an achievement we will forever be proud of.
My personal thanks again to everyone who takes the time to like and support what we do in every way. No matter how big or small. #SR75Family”
